This course is an industry standard training for the use and application baton and greatly reduces your liability and increases your value in the marketplace. The training course is commonly known as BATON TRAINING.
Overview
The 4-hours baton training course is designed to provide students with the minimum level of proficiency to carry and use a baton while on duty as private security guards. Individuals required to obtain a baton certification must be taught in the format that utilizes the skills necessary to carry on a daily basis.
We offer the Baton Training Certification and teach both expandable straight and side-handled baton usage.
Our training gives students the minimum skills required to yield and carry a baton professionally.
In order to carry a baton while on duty, the security guard must possess both a valid security officer license and a valid baton certification.
The permit does not authorize the security officer to carry a baton while off-duty.
Some Aspects of Baton Usage
All officers holding a baton certification may carry any type of baton on the job regardless of the type specified so long as he or she is proficient in the use of the device.
While your baton certification does expires in 3 years we at LJB Security Training, LLC encourage continuous training (2 years suggested) so that you may be able to carry the baton with confidence to effectively and legally defend yourself.
Guards who use excessive or unjustifiable force may have their security officer license suspended or revoked and/or suffer disciplinary action from their place of employment.
A security guard who is armed with a baton must remember that they are subject to all laws – Federal, State, and local. A security guard, that uses a baton in violation of the law, may charged as a defendant in a criminal complaint or indictment filed in court.
The baton is to be used to protect yourself against attack and not to injure someone permanently. It must be used selectively with skill and restraint to counter aggression. It must never be used offensively to threaten, intimidate, or otherwise harass an individual who does not pose a physical threat of bodily injury.
